I started painting in oils in 2013, and practice both plein air and painting from photos. Inspired by hikes in nature and the beauty of the Bay Area, as well as from travel, I have developed an impressionistic style that reflects an emotional experience with my subjects. My mother is an accomplished water colorist, my Belgian grandmother wove tapestries on a high loom, and my sister was a singer and a poet, so I’ve grown up around the arts and being encouraged to be creative. I’ve been taking classes at the Richmond Art Center and have met fabulous teachers there, including Rebeca Garcia-Gonzalez, Betsy Kendall, and Ned Axthelm. I would say I am an emerging artist, but I seem to be too old for that category, and in fact I’ve been in the process of emerging all my life and am not done yet!
